Acute Health Effects:

Irritation to eyes or skin may occur. A skin sensitization (allergic) reaction
may occur in sensitive individuals.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated By Exposure: Individuals with allergic reaction histories should use extra care in handling.
Chronic Health Effects:
Long-term exposure is not known to be hazardous.
Not listed as carcinogen by NTP, IARC and OSHA. Not considered hazardous under normal use and handling. The state of California considers metronidazole to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.
Eyes: Wash immediately with water.
Skin: Wash thoroughly with soap and water.
Ingestion: Contact a physician immediately.
