Hazards Identification
Potential Health Effects
Eye and skin irritant. Vapors or mists may cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, and respiratory tract. Repeated or prolonged exposure to vapor concentrations above the worker exposure limits may cause central nervous system depression (e.g. dizziness, weakness, nausea, headaches, unconsciousness, and/or death). Small amounts of liquid aspirated into the lungs can cause chemical pneumonitis, which can be fatal. Besides being an aspiration hazard, ingestion may cause gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g. irritation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea) and central nervous system depression.
Preexisting eye, skin, and respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure to this product.

IARC Monographs (Volume 82 (2002), Volume 77 (2000)) state that there is inadequate evidence in humans and sufficient evidence in experimental animals of the carcinogenicity of naphthalene and ethylbenzene. IARC classification - Group 2B.
