Health Effects
|
|
| We want to remind pregnant or nursing women and individuals with suppressed immune systems that a parasite sometimes found in cat feces can cause toxoplasmosis. Please wash hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter and your litter tray. Keep litter away from food preparation areas. Unused litter poses no health risk. |
| From MSDS Routes of Entry: Eye, Inhalation, Skin Health Hazards: When used as directed, as a cat litter, there is no significant health hazard. Excessive airborne dust concentrations may result in irritation of the respiratory tract. Eye or skin contact may cause irritation. The dust is capable of producing an immediate type 1 and a delayed type III hypersensitivity reaction in workers. Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: airborne dust may cause irritation and asthmatic reactions if inhaled, i.e., coughing, wheezing, tightness in chest, shortness of breath and nasal discharge. Eye contact: will cause mechanical irritation, i.e., pain, redness and swelling. Skin contact: may cause dermatitis, i.e., pain, redness, itching and swelling in hypersensitive people. Ingestion: symptoms are not expected following ingestion, however, ingestion should be avoided. Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Inhaled dust may aggravate asthma and inflammatory lung disease. |
| From MSDS Chronic: long-term repeated excessive exposure to airborne dust concentrations may result in fibrotic and neoplastic lung disease. |
| From MSDS NTP? No IARC Monographs? Yes, Group 2A (Probable) OSHA Regulated? No |
| From MSDS Inhalation-move exposed subject to fresh air. If breathing difficulties occur, consult a physician at once. Eye Contact-wash eyes with running water continuously for 15 minutes, then consult a physician if symptoms persist. Skin Contact-irritation is not usual following skin contact. If it occurs wash exposed area with soap and water. |
