Chronic exposure to nitrates may cause weakness, depression, headache, blood changes (methemoglobinemia and anemia), and kidney injury (nephritis).
GENERAL COMMENTS: This product contains urea. Eye contact with urea powder has caused reversible corneal opacity along with irritation as a foreign body in the eye with tearing and blinking. Skin contact with powdered urea may cause only mild irritation while ingestion is expected to cause nausea, vomiting, and possible excitement and convulsions. High concentrations of dusts may cause upper respiratory tract irritation with coughing, nasal discharge, sore throat, sneezing and shortness of breath. Existing data regarding the mutagenic effects of urea are inconclusive.
Ammonium phosphate and potassium nitrate are generally considered to have low toxicity by all routes of exposure. Ingestion of these chemicals may also cause nausea and vomiting with irritation to the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach. High concentrations of dusts or mists may cause upper respiratory tract irritation with coughing and nasal discharge. There is no data addressing potential adverse developmental, reproductive, or carcinogenic effects for any of these chemicals.
