Acute Health Effects: From MSDS
IMMEDIATE CONCERNS: May cause skin and eye irritation.

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS
EYES: May cause eye irritation.
SKIN : May cause skin irritation.
INGESTION: Possible nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
INHALA TION : Prolonged or excessive inhalation may cause respiratory tract irritation.

ROUTES OF ENTRY: Ingestion, eye, inhalation.

Symptoms of acute overexposure to phenoxy herbicides include muscle twitching, loss of sensation in some body parts, headache, dizziness, and fatigue. Most phenoxy compounds are moderately toxic to animals and they may also irritate the skin, eyes, nose, and mouth. Contact dermatitis may occur in sensitive individuals characterized by reddening of the skin. Most phenoxy herbicides are quickly eliminated through the urine and feces within 24 hours -liver and kidney are target organs for some phenoxy herbicides.
Chronic Health Effects: From MSDS
Prolonged or excessive inhalation may cause respiratory tract irritation. Contact dermatitis may occur in sensitive individuals characterized by reddening of the skin.

EYES: If in eyes, hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.
SKIN: If on skin or clothing, take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.
INGESTION: If swallowed, call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have person sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to by a poison control center or doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
INHALATION: Move person to fresh air. Call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment advice. If person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably mouth-to-mouth. Call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment advice.

Phenoxy herbicides can range from practically nontoxic to moderately toxic to birds with variable toxicity to fish (slight to practically nontoxic depending on formulation). Most are nontoxic to bees.
