Health Effects

|
Caution: Light Aromatic Solvent Naphtha. Do not use or store near flame, spark or hot surface. Use only in well-ventilated area. Keep container closed. Clean up spills immediately. Liquid evaporates and forms vapor (fumes) which can catch fire and burn with explosive violence. Invisible vapors spread easily and can be set on fire by many sources such as pilot lights, welding equipment and electric motors and switches. Fire hazard is greater as liquid temperature rises above 85 deg F. Avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of vapor or contact with skin or eyes. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling can be harmful or fatal. First Aid: If swallowed, do not make person vomit. Call a doctor immediately. If product gets on skin, wash with soap and water. If product gets in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes while holding eyelids open. Remove contact lenses, if worn. If irritation persists, see a doctor. If overcome by vapors, move patient to fresh air. If not breathing, apply artificial respiration and call a doctor. Note to physician: For emergency information call 1-800-231-0623. Ingestion of this product or subsequent vomiting can result in aspiration of light hydrocarbon liquid which can cause pneumonitis. Prolonged breathing of vapor can cause central nervous system effects.
From MSDS:The systemic toxicity of this substance has not been determined. Effects are based on one or more of the ingredients. Inhalation: Central nervous system effects may include one or more of the following: headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, weakness and loss of coordination. Skin Contact: May cause pain or a feeling of heat, discoloration, swelling, and blistering. Eye Contact: May cause pain, tears, swelling, redness, and blurred vision. Ingestion: This substance may be slightly toxic to internal organs if swallowed. The degree of injury will depend on the amount absorbed from the gut. Because of the low viscosity of this substance, it can directly enter the lungs if it is swallowed (this is called aspiration). Aspiration can occur during the act of swallowing or when vomiting the substance. Once in the lungs, the substance is very difficult to remove and can cause severe injury to the lungs and death.
From MSDS:MSDS states that no health effects will result from prolonged or frequent use of this product. (For discussion of potential long-term health effects, consult the individual chemical ingredients in this database.)
Carcinogen status of components: No statement about potential carcinogenicity is on manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheet.

Liquid evaporates and forms vapor (fumes) which can catch fire and burn with explosive violence. Invisible vapor spreads easily and can be set on fire by many sources such as pilot lights, welding equipment, and electrical motors and switches. Fire hazard is greater as liquid temperature rises above 85F. Do not use or store near flame, sparks or hot surfaces. Use only in well ventilated area. Keep container closed. Do not weld, heat or drill container. Replace cap. Emptied container still contains hazardous or explosive vapor or liquid. CAUTION! Do not use pressure on container. It may rupture with explosive force. Keep out of reach of children.
