Warnings: WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. WARNING! Sanding or scraping pressure treated lumber may be hazardous; wear appropriate protection.

IMPORTANT! STORAGE AND DISPOSAL: DANGER! Rags, steel wool and waste soaked with this BEHR Oil-Base Semi-Gloss Enamel may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded or stored. To avoid a spontaneous combustion fire, immediately after use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled, metal container. Do not store unused product inside the home. For disposal guidance, contact your household refuse collection service, fire department, county or state government environmental control agency.

VENTILATION REQUIRED: To avoid inhalation and combustion hazards (see below), DO NOT use this product unless you can achieve cross-ventilation by opening windows and doors during application and drying.

CONTAINS PETROLEUM DISTILLATES AND ALKYD RESIN. VAPOR HARMFUL. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. If you experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase fresh air, wear respiratory protection (NIOSH/ MSHA TC 23C or equivalent) or leave the area. Follow respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. Causes eye, skin, nose and throat irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling and before smoking and eating. NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. VAPORS MAY CAUSE FLASH FIRE. Keep away from sparks, heat and open flame. Do not smoke. Vapors are heavier than air, and can travel at floor level to distant ignition sources. Extinguish all flames and pilot lights and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors, high intensity lights and other sources of ignition during use and until all vapors are gone. Close container after each use. To avoid spontaneous combustion, soak soiled rags and waste immediately after use in a closed, water-filled metal container. WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Potential Health Effects

Eye: May cause irritation.

Skin: May cause irritation.

Inhalation: Prolonged or excessive inhalation may cause respiratory tract irritation.

Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed. Ingestion can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and gastrointestinal irritation.

Signs and Symptoms: Overexposure may cause headaches and dizziness.

Target Organs: Eyes. Skin. Respiratory system. Digestive system. Central nervous system. Kidney.

Aggravation of Pre-Existing Conditions: May aggravate pre-existing respiratory disorders, allergy, eczema, or skin conditions.
Chronic Health Effects: From MSDS:

Prolonged or repeated contact may result in defatting and drying of the skin, which may result in skin irritation and dermatitis. Repeated or prolonged irritation may cause toxic effects.
Carcinogenicity: IARC : Group 2B: Possibly carcinogenic to humans.
First Aid: Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 to 20 minutes. Get medical attention, if irritation or symptoms of overexposure persists.

Skin Contact: Immediately wash skin with soap and plenty of water. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Inhalation: If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration or give oxygen by trained personnel. Seek immediate medical attention.

Ingestion: If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Other First Aid: Due to possible aspiration into the lungs, DO NOT induce vomiting if ingested. Provide a glass of water to dilute the material in the stomach. If vomiting occurs naturally, have the person lean forward to reduce the risk of aspiration.

Handling: Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapor and contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Material will accumulate static charges which may cause an electrical spark (ignition source). Use proper grounding procedures.Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from sources of heat, combustible materials, and incompatible substances. Keep container tightly closed when not in use.Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling vapor or mist.
Disposal: Consult with the US EPA Guidelines listed in 40 CFR Part 261.3 for the classifications of hazardous waste prior to disposal. Furthermore, consult with your state and local waste requirements or guidelines, if applicable, to ensure compliance.
