Warnings: Dark brown to black, thick consistency liquid. Studies by Koppers Industries, Inc. (Using Refined Coal Tar Emulsion Safely, 1991) show that emissions during manufacture and application of coal tar emulsion are well below OSHA exposure limits. Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with skin. Dermatitis may result from exposure of individuals with sensitive skin. Refined coal tar is a collection of organic compounds, primarily poly-nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons ranging from one ringed to 30 or 40 ringed in size. It is estimated that as many as 5,000 compounds may be present. Some of these poly-nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons may be those which have been known to induce cancer in animals under laboratory conditions according to NTP, IARC or OSHA. Respirable crystalline quartz has been found to be a suspected carcinogen by NTP, although no exposure is expected through the use of this material. This product has not been tested in long term, chronic exposure tests..
