Precautionary Statements

Keep away from extremely high or low temperatures, ignition sources, and incompatible materials. No smoking. Ground/bond container and receiving equipment. Use explosion-proof electrical, ventilating, and lighting equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Avoid breathing vapors, mist, or spray. Wash hands, forearms, and other exposed areas thoroughly after handling. Contaminated work clothing must not be allowed out of the workplace. Avoid release to the environment. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, and eye protection.

If on skin (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention. Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.

If inhaled: Remove person to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.

If in eyes: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.? Call a poison center or doctor if you feel unwell. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

In case of fire: Use appropriate media to extinguish.

Store locked up. Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep cool.

Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local, regional, national, and international regulations.

Exposure may aggravate those with pre-existing eye, skin, or respiratory conditions. Overexposure may cause methemoglobinemia. Initial manifestation of methemoglobinemia is cyanosis, characterized by navy lips, tongue and mucous membranes, with skin color being slate grey. Further manifestation is characterized by headache, weakness, dyspnea, dizziness, stupor, respiratory distress and death due to anoxia.

Potential Health Effects

Eye Contact: Contact causes severe irritation with redness and swelling of the conjunctiva.

Skin Contact: Redness, pain, swelling, itching, burning, dryness, and dermatitis. May cause an allergic skin reaction.

Inhalation: High concentrations may cause central nervous system depression such as dizziness, vomiting, numbness, drowsiness, headache, and similar narcotic symptoms.

Ingestion: Accidental ingestion of amounts exceeding directed use may cause adverse effects. May cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

General: Causes serious eye irritation. Causes skin irritation. May cause drowsiness and dizziness. Skin sensitization.

First Aid: Eye Contact: Rinse cautiously with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Obtain medical attention.

Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Drench affected area with water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if irritation develops or persists.

Inhalation: When symptoms occur: go into open air and ventilate suspected area. Obtain medical attention if breathing difficulty persists.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention.

General: Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label where possible).
