Potential Health Effects

Eye Contact: Dust may cause mechanical irritation and corneal abrasion.

Skin Contact: May cause mechanical irritation, skin abrasions or dry skin.

Inhalation: Inhalation of dust may cause irritation to the nose, throat and upper respiratory tract with coughing and shortness of breath.

Ingestion: No adverse effects expected for normal incidental ingestion. Large amounts may cause gastrointestinal irritation.
Chronic Health Effects: From SDS:

This product contains crystalline silica. Repeated inhalation of respirable crystalline silica may cause a progressive, disabling and sometimes fatal lung disease called silicosis. Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, non-spec
Carcinogenicity: Crystalline silica quartz is listed as "carcinogenic to Humans" (Group 1) by IARC and "Known to be a Human carcinogen" by NTP. None of the other components are listed as carcinogens by OSHA, IARC, NTP, ACGIH or the EU Directive.
First Aid: Eye Contact: Flush victims eyes with large quantities of water, while holding the eyelids apart. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

Skin Contact: Wash contact area thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation or symptoms of exposure develop.

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If irritation or other symptoms persist, get medical attention.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a medical professional Get medical attention if you feel unwell.

Handling: Do not breathe dust. Avoid dust generation. Avoid contact with eyes. Wear protective clothing and equipment. Use only with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep container closed. Silica dust may be in the air without a visible dust cloud. Practice good housekeeping to prevent accumulation of dust in work areas. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials. Keep containers closed when not in use.
